Chino Hills 7-Eleven sold one of the lucky tickets. The 7-Eleven owner is smiling from ear to ear and was thrilled to learn that his store produced one of the lucky winners for the largest sum of lottery winners in the history. California has to share it's $1 million bonus with the store owner and the 7-Eleven Company. This rural suburb of Chino Hils where only 78,000 of population lives in harmony with cows and nature suddenly started to populate themselves at the near by strip mall and the California Store chanting "Chino Hills! Chino Hills!"
The store owner Balbir Atwal worked as an Electronics Salesman after immigrating from India in 1981. Although he had sold many winning tickets this was thus far the largest.
Florida ticket was sold at a Publix supermarket. Florida store collects $100,000. Melbourne Beach, Florida 3,100 residents live on a spit of beachfront no bigger than one-square mile. These trio are lucky when it comes to paying income tax. They only pay federal taxes at 39.6 percent. Florida and Tennessee has no state income tax. California lottery winners are exempted if bought in state.

Wednesday night's drawing alone, Powerball sales totaled $1,270,206,274. People were buying 37,000 Powerball tickets a minute in California, where $386 million in Powerball tickets were sold since Nov. 4, the most of any state, and more than California sold in the entire previous fiscal year.
Director Hugo Lopez, California Lottery, said "You get a lot of new players with a large jackpot. Our goal is to have a lot of people play a little bit. A big chunk of the profits go to schools, although not enough to solve all their budget problems."
Florida Lottery Secretary Tom Delacenserie said sales for this jackpot generated nearly $115 million since November for education in Florida, which uses the lottery to provide 6 percent of the education budget.
California's share represents $154 million for its schools, said Russ Lopez. - Not enough to get schools out of trouble.
